Preserving Your Family Memories | KW Designs Photography | Lakewood Colorado Photographer

KW Designs and Photography in Lakewood makes memories even more meaningful...

Did you know that I can do a few more things (organizational wise) for you and your family other than photography?  I mean, I LOVE getting to meet up with you guys to take your pictures and catch up.  But, what if I told you that some of your most precious childhood and family memories may be fading away right before your eyes?

What is this you ask?

Well, if you were born before 2010 you, your parents, or grand parents likely had one of those VHS camcorder thingys… Yeah, those big bulky shoulder video cameras (possibly smaller or hand held more towards the 90’s and 2000’s).

They recorded your first steps, family vacations, family reunions, your graduations, weddings… you get the picture!

Depending on how and where you store these, you may be damaging the tapes and they may not be playable OR viewable in a few more years.

NOOOOOOO!!!!

A few years ago, my mother-in-law gave me a box of my husband’s childhood memories to convert to DVD’s.

Can you imagine my eyes when I discovered number one, that I would get to see my husband as a child; and number two, the amount of hours, wait, WEEKS I was about to spend converting these to DVD’s…?

I learned after tapes and tapes of seeing the joy in my husband's eyes and laughter as a child vacationing with his grandparents…seeing the REAL Shamu show (gasp)… camping with his father and best friends….his high school graduation… and countless family holidays with cousins that still play equally hard now as they did back then, that these tapes were stored in some of the most damaging environments.

After the shock wore off, the gratitude settled in that we were able to salvage these and get them converted to a usable format.

The box that they were stored in went from a garage in the Florida heat and humidity, to an attic in the Texas heat and humidity. We’re talking monsoon rains to temps above 120 degrees.

So, all of this isn’t super horrible.  My in-laws are awesome, and are not terrible people for storing their decades of family history in a paper box.  The truth is, they kept the tapes together and always knew where the box was, phew!

BUT, after the realization that the VCR (that’s the VHS tape viewing machine that hooks up to your television) was “potentially, maybe, perhaps” going out of style, or off the shelves of the local big box stores and would have to be ordered from a nostalgic retail store….they were prompted to convert from VHS to DVD.

And now, even more people are looking to convert DVD to digital, so if you’re still hanging on to those old VHS tapes, we need to talk!

Many of us are seeing our parents aging and soon we’ll be the ones looking through boxes of the memories they chose to keep in random storage areas.

So, before we’re looking through them for reasons we probably don’t want to think about, let’s just get those boxes out now and start looking at those memories.

Together.

Memories are so much more fun when we’re able to see them again with the ones we created them with. If you’re still hanging on to the old VCR, you can still watch them. You can’t Zoom them though....

What if you don’t have a VCR?

I can solve that for you. And the added benefit is we can make copies for the whole family, and for the time that your 4 year old wants to see Daddy playing in the sprinklers, or blowing out his 4 year old candles and accidentally scratches your DVD copy.

I’ve got you covered.

And even if you do still have that VCR, we can avoid the “Be kind and rewind” with the DVD as your back-up source of family memories.

I know you’re thinking about where that “box ‘o’ fun” is hiding out. When you find it, let me know how many tapes you have that you want to convert and we’ll set it up.

Send me an email at kwdesignsphoto@gmail.com with “VHS Tapes Feature” in the subject line and you’ll get 10% off your conversion package.

Rates and shipping outside a 25 miles radius of Denver will apply, and I have packages to cover anything from 1-30 VHS tapes, even more for those aspiring directors out there!

Do you have some old photographs that are cracked or stained and you don’t know if they are restorable or not? Let’s connect and see how I can help preserve your family memories.

Still reading this and on the fence?!?

Well, if you want this in time for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or Grandparent’s Day (yup there’s one of those too!), then get up and get going!!!

These conversions can take a few weeks and my calendar is filling fast with real time photo sessions!!!

And if you have some great video of Saint Patrick’s Day, we can isolate frames and get you an amazing retro picture with your Lucky Charms T-shirt.

Get up and get going!! I can’t wait to see what YOU looked like as a kid and add some really amazing photos to your family wall and DVD collection.

~Cheers!!
