Year in Review 2021

Wow! What a year for KW Designs Photography!

First of all, THANK YOU to all of my clients, friends and family and clients that have become friends and family for inviting me along to capture memories and moments for you! I can’t say enough how much it means to me, I love all of your families.

I put together a collage of my work from this year and all I can say is thank you. This doesn’t even include every single session I shot or worked on.

I also second shoot, associate shoot and contract out for a handful of photographers in the Denver area. I have a handful of projects I work on for private and corporate companies. I also design and create physical products for my clients including prints, canvas, birth announcements, senior announcements, and Christmas cards.

And SO MANY of you do not even know that I offer these products and services. I love to create products out of my images. Beautiful collages or canvas groupings hanging on your walls displaying your favorite captures. I will offer more of these services this coming year as I have so many clients ordering products and Christmas cards.

Reflection:

With each new year I do reflect on the closure of the past year. I was busier than ever and trying new things in my creative world. I have a little studio room in Lakewood, Colorado where when I get the chance, I like to try my hand at new techniques and styles with sets, lighting and colors.

I have lots of new and fun ideas for mini sessions for the upcoming year, stay tuned each month to see what I come up with.

The amount of families I worked with this year blew me away. I laughed and cried with many of you, thank you for impacting my life. Actually looking back at the work I created with you made me stop in my tracks. What beautiful moments from this past year.

I worked with an incredible writer, Emily Kamala in 2021. Emily is a freelance writer and life coach who loves to share stories, write blogs, and experience life so fully she has to bring it to life on the page.

She took many of my ideas and made them into fun writings. I wanted my clients to have a peek into my life last year. We wrote fun recipes and focused on looking ahead to heath and family and learned how to slow down a bit to enjoy those quiet moments.

Celebrations:

All of the families, babies, weddings, headshots, seniors, doggies, and birthdays were SO MUCH FUN! I think you all know how much fun we have together while out photographing. I tear up sometimes while I’m editing looking at the beautiful and meaningful moments I captured and sometimes laugh so hard at lots of images that do not end up in your gallery.

Y’all, I love celebrating with you! I also love wedding cake and birthday cake, hahaha! But really, it means the world to me when you email or call me to be there with you. I think I’m finally falling in love with the true chaos sometimes of kids who run in circles and I have to chase around with my camera, littles who don’t fall asleep at newborn sessions and one year old’s who don’t want to touch their birthday cakes.

I am a parent as well, and I remember all of those times with my son EVERY SINGLE TIME it happens while I’m working. I think that’s my why. The years are going by so fast and when I think back to all of those time in my own life, my heart swells. I’ve learned how to be more present with my family and with my clients.

Becoming involved in my community:

For the past 3 years I have supported The Rare Sisters Batten Foundation. They aim to help further the development of medical research for treatments and cures for CLN3 Batten Disease, and provide monetary assistance to families with children diagnosed with Batten Disease.

Being involved in a tiny part of their year fills my heart with joy. Cecilia and Lilly are the rare sisters that are living with and fighting this disease. You can read about, follow their journey, and get involved in many ways at https://www.raresisters.org.

Women in Business:

I was able to highlight so many wonderful women business owners this year in my local community. Each month I posted a blog of some amazing women highlighting their businesses and expertise in their fields. Thanks to all who let me come by and interview and photograph them!

What’s Next for this Year:

Well, more photo sessions, that’s for sure. I’ve already planned our family calendar for this coming year with our big trips and family events. So, I’m able to schedule your events and celebrations around my calendar.

All I can say is if you know you want photos of any kind, give me a heads up on the month you are thinking about so I can pencil you in. Weddings and babies, family reunions or celebrations, birthdays or pet sessions, schedule them NOW!

Last minute things like Pet Memory Sessions are easy to schedule and they are so very important to remember your Furry Best Friend for all they have meant to you and your family.

Last minute Family Memorial Sessions can be documented too. Cancer and illness stink and they stop us in our tracks and clench our hearts. I can help you capture the memory with your loved ones.
