Women In Business - Lakewood, Colorado with Amber Rice-Horvath

I really love meeting local female business owners! I had the pleasure to meet Amber Rice-Horvath this month and learn about everything this busy wife and mom of (almost) two is up to!

Out of her basement, Amber operates Amber’s Earth in Lakewood, Colorado. There’s a lot going on in this space, and I was ready to dive in when we started our Zoom call.

Amber’s business goal is “Helping you live longer, stronger, and healthier, naturally.” And she does this in a variety of ways that she has a deep passion for.

Herbalism, Dance-Fitness, and Nutritional Coaching

First off, she has dedicated space to focus on herbalism and creating salves, lip balms, scrubs, and mists for various uses. She was first introduced to this work during her master’s degree in Applied Clinical Nutrition from the New York Chiropractic College, where she took courses in pharmacognosy (medical herbalism).

It was here that she learned how to use herbs appropriately and effectively. The creations she has on Etsy are the ones that she loves to make the most. Trying them out on friends and family lead to her success and is now a vital part of her business.

Focused on high-quality ingredients, she starts with food-grade coconut oil infused with 100% organic Calendula flowers for the base of her balms and salves.

Amber’s goal is “handcrafted natural organic always” for all of her products.

Her top sellers are the mists that you can use for your body or home. These mists are perfect for those that don’t want to diffuse oils and want the benefits of essential oils and aromatherapy throughout their environment.

Amber’s second passion goes back to her early dance career. She had been dancing for over 30 years; professionally for five, and the opportunity arose to teach dance fitness classes. She hasn’t looked back since and actively teaches Zumba online.

Music and movement classes changed shape when her son Luca was 6 months old. Her traditional Zumba expanded and she began incorporating Zumbini into her programs. This group class is a play-off of the original Zumba with your kiddo!!! So much fun!!

One of Amber’s favorite moments is seeing the littles enjoying this group as much as their parents. These little delights keep the momentum going for everyone!

Since the pandemic, Amber has been able to transition beautifully to online classes. Each class is taught in her basement studio where she can see her participants on Zoom and they can still get the best instruction from her.

Zumbini with the Horvaths is great for baby and toddler fun, because she doesn’t do it alone! You get to see Luca and her husband in action too, and soon you get to see this successful mama in action with her newborn due in May 2021!!

Bringing Zumbini virtual makes bonding fun with music and movement for the whole family. You can check out her schedule here

Amber also teacher virtual POUND classes! Make some noise with Amber by joining a single class or you can purchase 5 classes!

This is a full body workout that combines cardio, conditioning & strength training with yoga & pilates-inspired movements. I can barely keep up, but Amber makes all of her virtual sessions SO FUN!

The third part of Ambers business; yup, she does MORE, is all about

Nutrition and Clean Eating

I was excited to hear about her nutrition degree and learning about her drive to help others achieve their nutrition goals.

In college, she gained over 30 pounds and struggled to lose the weight. As a dancer, this was challenging for her as her desire to remain active was present.

She found Herbalife and lost 15 pounds with their program. This transition drove her to become a nutrition coach with Herbalife, and there she found the joy of helping others and seeing them succeed.

The passion of “paying it forward” through health, inspired Amber to get her degree in Applied Clinical Nutrition. This is where she truly thrives. Working with clients and hearing about how they’re reaching their weekly goals is a reminder of how being in service with her community is so fulfilling.

Having such a variety in her business, I had to wonder if anything gets this businesswoman down!!

To keep the bad-mood cloud away, she focuses on daily mindfulness meditation both morning and night and has a gratitude journal to bring forward the positive moments in her days.

If things really get ahold of her, dance and movement are always the keys to bringing her around. In our call, she shared that when “I dance it out...something lights up inside of me and I am instantly motivated.”

With all of this going on, I couldn’t imagine that Amber wouldn’t have a few guilty pleasures. And she definitely sees life as a balancing act. Dark chocolate, pizza, pasta, and candy are a few of the things that sneak their way into her life, and none of it is “bad.”

The pleasures that moderation doesn’t find its way to are the hugs from Luca and their family dog Charlee. The laughter from Luca is also something no parent would ever limit and could brighten any day.

I can’t disagree with this statement, and meeting Amber was truly inspirational. If you’re inspired too and want to learn about her Nutritional Coaching and Counseling, you can reach her directly by emailing ambersearthshop@gmail.com.

If you’re a Woman In Business here in Denver, CO I’d love to hear from you and feature you in my next blog.
